This thirteen-song debut EP shows the promise that Altai Hangai has. When you buy a Altai Hangai album, you know exactly what you’re getting! This album has some very good songs like Khuur Melodies and Altai Praise Song. Gone With The Wind (Songs of Mongolian Steppes) is not something you should pass up.
Some of the arrangements found on Gone With The Wind (Songs of Mongolian Steppes) are surprisingly edgy. I like the agression and power of Khoomil. The Nicest Auburn Horses - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. The Five Kazakhs - My least favorite song on this album. The Trot Of An Uulgan Shar Camel is so unique, as each one of the songs is. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Gone With The Wind (Songs of Mongolian Steppes) is Khookhoo Namjil. The Four Oirat Tribes is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen. This song is dynamic and dramatic. Voice of Altai Hangai in Ode To Mandukhai Khatan is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. The Black Dragonfly From The Gobi has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album. Praise Song For Bogd Khan Mountain is the albums biggest surprise.
