ten years ago, Ambient - Various Artists briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Irmin Schmidt & Bruno Spoerri / When The Waters Came To Life”. This compilation contains all of the biggest hits by Ambient - Various Artists. Since completing 1994’s ‘Shu-De / Sygyt’, Ambient - Various Artists fulfilled their contract with Columbia Records and where under no obligation to release another album. IT makes me wanna dance!
I love the melodic melody of Irmin Schmidt & Bruno Spoerri / When The Waters Came To Life and to this day it makes me feel good. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on A Brief History Of Ambient Volume 3 (CD 1) is David Sylvian & Robert Fripp / Darshana (The Future Sound Of London Remix). William Orbit / Gringatcho Demento motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. Lyrics of Rain Tree Crow / Red Earth (As Summertime Ends) are precise and evocative. I believe Ryuchi Sakamoto / The Last Emperor - Theme Variation 1 is one of the most excellent, heartfelt songs ever written. Robert Fripp / 1988 is a great opener for A Brief History Of Ambient Volume 3 (CD 1). David Sylvian / Epiphany - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. Ambient - Various Artists is hitting on all cylinders in Amorphous Androgynous / A Study Of Six Guitars. Trisan / May Yo I - A classic Ambient - Various Artists track. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Music of Seigen Ono / You Will Be Alright is gentle, never overbearing. Laraaji / Meditation 2 is outstanding work of Ambient - Various Artists. Blew our minds when we first heard Bark Psychosis / Pendulum Man.
