Now signed to Asleep At The Wheel’s Columbia Records, the title track from second album “Tribute To The Music Of Bob Wills and The Texas Playboys (Dance Version)” leads Asleep At The Wheel’s back-to-school campaign. It’s natural for Asleep At The Wheel to take a stab at ‘Red Wing’ considering her long-professed love for Led Zeppelin. This album has some very good songs like Red Wing and Big Ball In Cowtown. Oh yes, this album gets Array out of Array
Big Ball In Cowtown is really the reason why I recommend buying Tribute To The Music Of Bob Wills and The Texas Playboys (Dance Version). Yearning (Just For You) - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. Bring It On Down To My House is simple, dignified and effective, Asleep At The Wheel refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Deep Water is a song to enjoy for years to come. It took me a little time but I ended up loving Blues For Dixie. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. Once Across The Alley From The Alamo gets in your head, it will NEVER leave. Old Fashioned Love is another strong production from Asleep At The Wheel. Asleep At The Wheel sings his heart out in Ida Red. Misery is outstanding work of Asleep At The Wheel. I Wonder If You Feel The Way I Do is a marvelous, simple song by Asleep At The Wheel at the top of his game. After about the third Hubbin’ It listen through, I began to believe this song is Asleep At The Wheel’s essence. Corina, Corina - Asleep At The Wheel first major hit. Still Water Runs The Deepest stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. All Night Long gives good insight into the truths. Got A Letter From My Kid Today - A classic Asleep At The Wheel track. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot.
