Self-described as Jazz with lots of words, Bill Evans Trio comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. Turn Out the Stars is an amazing album, racked with beauty.Since completing 1996’s ‘Days of Wine and Roses’, Bill Evans Trio fulfilled their contract with Savoy Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Turn Out the Stars touched my soul like nothing else.
Emily is the funkiest number on the album. My Foolish Heart is the album’s biggest hit, I think. When I listen to Nardis in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. Yet Ne’er Broken has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. Quiet Now - I like this one. Strong, powerful vocals of Bill Evans Trio in But Not For Me are very impressive. Spring Is Here - Check out that bassline! Autumn Leaves is a exquisite song and it grows on you.
