On the Russia charts, superstar Blues - Various Artists’s career stalled before it left the starting gate. ‘01-whoopin The Blues - The Capiltal Recordings 1947-50′ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Blues - Various Artists on ‘Telephone Blues’. Smart music for smart people.
Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with Custard Pie Blues. After about the third Riff and Harmonica Jump listen through, I began to believe this song is Blues - Various Artists’s essence. Mad Man Blues is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song. All Alone Blues - This is a very lively song. After you’ve listened to Dirty Mistreater, Don’t You Know, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Early Morning Blues is possibly the best song Blues - Various Artists has come up. Whoopin’ The Blues is the most memorable and marvelous. Vocals of Blues - Various Artists in Beer Garden Blues really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm. Screamin’ and Cryin’ Blues - Well, here we get a bit more meaning. Crow Jane Blues is the best music that I have heard from anyone in any area of music. I like to sing along with Worried Man Blues, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. Airplane Blues presents the perfect mix of instruments on 01-whoopin The Blues - The Capiltal Recordings 1947-50. Hot Headed Woman is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. Harmonica Rag (2:27) - awsome. This track is clearly meant to showcase Blues - Various Artists’s vocal abilities.
