It has been five years Boney M’ last studio CD, “Gold. 20 Super Hits” which won Array Academy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. Since completing 1993’s ‘Rivers Of Babylon’, Boney M fulfilled their contract with ForeFront Records and where under no obligation to release another album. This disc has all of the essential Boney M classics. Gold. 20 Super Hits is the best essence of Boney M.
When I listen to Daddy Cool in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. Within the first few notes of Sunny it’s perfectly clear that Boney M is living this song. Boney M emotions are reflected through Brown Girl In The Ring. Rasputin - Check out that bassline! It’s a great pleasure to listen to Ma Baker from the beginning to the end. Hooray! Hooray! It’s A Holi-Holiday is a bit different from Boney M stereotypical stuff. After about the third Painter Man listen through, I began to believe this song is Boney M’s essence. So much energy, so exciting a sound.I loved No Woman No Cry the first time I heard it. Mary’s Boy Child/Oh My Lord is a very catchy tune. This song is very powerful, its catchy melody will have you singing along in no time. Album opener Still I’m Sad is a bright, upbeat ditty. Nightflight To Venus is the best music that I have heard from anyone in any area of music. In Felicidad Boney M spins a tale you want to hear to the end. El Lute without a doubt is the standout song of Gold. 20 Super Hits. One of the more genuine-sounding songs is Baby Do You Wanna Bump. Nice and different song. It took me a little time but I ended up loving Happy Song. Mega Mix - Rivers Of Babylon/Daddy Cool/Ma Baker/Rasputin to me is the best you can get from Boney M.
