It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Bud Powell energies, virtually a rebirth. There is so much to love about Bud Powell, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. This compilation contains all of the biggest hits by Bud Powell. The Complete Blue Note and Roost Recordings Vol. 3 constantly brilliant.
This is probably my favorite song on the album. It Could Happen to You - A strong beat. It Could Happen to You - I just love it. Parisian Thoroughfare is simply exquisite. I loved Autumn in New York the first time I heard it. Reets and I - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of Bud Powell. Still going through The Complete Blue Note and Roost Recordings Vol. 3 and coming to appreciate Reets and I more and more with every listen. It’s so catchy, it’s amazing. Simple and heartfelt closing track Collard Greens and Black Eyed Peas closes The Complete Blue Note and Roost Recordings Vol. 3 on a high note. Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with Collard Greens and Black Eyed Peas. Polka Dots and Moonbeams stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. Excellent vocals and musical performances. Audrey is a strong cut, one of many. A great put together song. Bud Powell has astounded me with this amazing track. This song is dynamic and dramatic. My Heart Stood Still is the first taste of the new album. The Complete Blue Note and Roost Recordings Vol. 3 couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track You’d Be So Nice to Come Home To. Bag’s Groove is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. I think My Devotion is the best song Bud Powell has ever done. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer. Woody N You (3:00) a good melody.
