Since Burl Ives last CD (The Nashville Years, Vol. 3) on Columbia Records back in 1993, I have felt a massive void in my life. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Burl Ives on ‘Mary Ann Regrets’. After seeing Mary Ann Regrets, I had to have a good Burl Ives cd. The Nashville Years, Vol. 3 is the best essence of Burl Ives.
Billy Bayou - A classic Burl Ives track. The Moon Is High - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem. Music in Green Turtle is marvelous as in all tracks of The Nashville Years, Vol. 3. Bury The Bottle With Me is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen. The Blizzard is so unique, as each one of the songs is. Burl Ives allows each song to breathe and flourish. Album opener I’m The Boss is a bright, upbeat ditty. This track is almost perfect, instrumentals and vocals combine awesomely. Curry Road to me is the best you can get from Burl Ives. The Deepening Snow is cool work of Burl Ives. All of songs on The Nashville Years, Vol. 3 and have something to say letting alone She Didn’t Let The Ink Dry On The Paper. The Late Movie 1963 is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through The Nashville Years, Vol. 3. |titile| is quite refreshing and sets the tone for what is going on in The Nashville Years, Vol. 3. Man About Town - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. She Called Me Baby is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. My Chicken Run Way To The Bush is one of these floating songs. Baby Come Home To Me gives taste of what makes Burl Ives special as a musician. Roses And Orchids (3:50) Not one of my favorites, but for a lot of people this is one of their best songs. Lynching Party is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. Overall a nice softer song. Two-car Garage is a astounding, simple song by Burl Ives at the top of his game. I Found My Best Friend In The Dog Pound is perfect. I’ll Hit It With A Stick is one of my favorite songs by Burl Ives. Saskatoon, Saskatchewan has a fun tempo. Some Folks make listening to Burl Ives like being in some sort of time warp. I can’t stop playing I’ll Walk Away Smiling. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. This Is Your Day gives good insight into the truths. The beautiful sound of this track makes you want to close your eyes and sway away with the music.
