‘Talkin’ Verve: Roots of Acid Jazz’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. When you buy a Cal Tjader album, you know exactly what you’re getting! It’s natural for Cal Tjader to take a stab at ‘Los Jibaros’ considering her long-professed love for EMF. This is one of Cal Tjader best albums
Manteca is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. It’s very catchy and easy to get into which is what you want in a song. Mambo In Miami one of the best in my collection. Triste - arguably the best track on Talkin’ Verve: Roots of Acid Jazz album. Soul Burst without a doubt is the standout song of Talkin’ Verve: Roots of Acid Jazz. The song Los Bandidos ending is my favorite… so catchy! I like Soul Sauce because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. This track is a great song that still never gets old. Maramoor Mambo is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. Insight is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. Tokyo Blues - Cal Tjader first major hit. Afro-Blue is one of the more up-tempo songs on Talkin’ Verve: Roots of Acid Jazz. Cuando, Cuando, Que Sera? is such a cool and optimistic song that things can get just better. Cal’s Bluedo make listening to Cal Tjader like being in some sort of time warp. I like the idea behind Fuji.
