There is no doubt that Canadian brass has talent. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Canadian brass on ‘The Herald Angels Sing’. nine years ago, Canadian brass briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Send in the clowns”. If I may, I suggest “The Herald Angels Sing”. That one song is amazing!
Send in the clowns is a fine track on any terms. In I Saw Three Ships full palet of sound is used by Canadian brass to accentuate the presentation. In God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen Canadian brass is at his best. It’s so catchy, it’s amazing. Canadian brass breathes new life into the music in Glory in Excelsis Deo. Holly and the Ivy stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. Parade of the Wooden Soldiers is beautiful, yet underrated track. Sleigh ride actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Canadian brass’s face. This is one hell of a track. The opening track Ave Maria is very much like you would expect from other albums. It’s very catchy and easy to get into which is what you want in a song. Lyrics of The huron carol are precise and evocative. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in Christmas. Some call Winter Wonderland from Christmas as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. I Saw Three Ships (Tuba Solo) is the funkiest number on the album. |titile| is quite refreshing and sets the tone for what is going on in Christmas. I believe Frosty, the Snow Man is one of the most exquisite, heartfelt songs ever written. A unique and uplifting song. In Sweet Songs of Christmas you won’t find any flashy solos. Tuba lullaby is astounding.
