There is no doubt that Canned Heat has talent. Mila Sparrow has compared writing for Canned Heat’s new album to that on ‘Gamblin’ Woman’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. ‘Gamblin’ Woman’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. This is what good Blues should be.
24 Hours - another great track from the Gamblin’ Woman album. I Used To Be Bad has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. The Head In Me Is Up is a striking and quite long song. A great put together song. Gamblin’ Woman is the more seemingly obscure song on Gamblin’ Woman that bear up best to repeated listening. Dear Mother Earth (5:28) - awsome. I Might Be Tempted marked the continuation of Canned Heat in style evolution. Remember Woodstock one of the best in my collection. Canned Heat has astounded me with this amazing track. Blew our minds when we first heard Driftin’. I can’t stop playing (You’ll Have To) Come And. I like to sing along with Vision Of You, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. I loved Hucklebuck the first time I heard it. It’s Hot is probably one of Canned Heat’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. It took me a little time but I ended up loving John Lee Hooker Boogie.
