Cannonball Adderley’s debut, ‘Verve Jazz Masters 31′, does not fit easily into one genre. After debuting at No. 1 last week, Cannonball Adderley’s album Verve Jazz Masters 31 falls to No. 2 with 367,000, a sales slide of 95%. Verve Jazz Masters 31 carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. Lots of variety between tracks. My favorite is The Song Is You
The Song Is You is the albums biggest surprise. I’m Glad There Is You is the albums biggest surprise. You’d Be So Nice To Come Home To (3:42) Not one of my favorites, but for a lot of people this is one of their best songs. Cynthia’s In Love actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Cannonball Adderley’s face. The Masquerade Is Over is probably one of Cannonball Adderley’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. Limehouse Blues - Cannonball Adderley first major hit. I believe Lover Man is one of the most perfect, heartfelt songs ever written. I like Stars Fell On Alabama because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. Street Of Dreams is excellent work of Cannonball Adderley. Spring Is Here is one of my favorite songs by Cannonball Adderley. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: The Way You Look Tonight, which shows, blatantly, how much Cannonball Adderley has evolved as a singer. I think Falling In Love With Love is the best song Cannonball Adderley has ever done. Little Girl Blue is a very catchy tune. I Got It Bad (And That Ain’t Good) is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through Verve Jazz Masters 31. Get Verve Jazz Masters 31 and turn on Straight, No Chaser if you are going to sip your wine late at night.
