This is the first studio album from Capercaillie and Carter Burwell since bad diagnosis in 1995. Capercaillie and Carter Burwell was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Capercaillie and Carter Burwell and Rob Roy together. Capercaillie and Carter Burwell had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. Great Celtic right here!
This track is just a stunning masterpiece. Born By Rapids is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through Rob Roy. Morag’s Lament has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album. Rannoch Moor Suite is so unique, as each one of the songs is. Theid Mi Dhachaigh is nothing but pure genius. A Standing Stone, A Silk Purse I just LOVE this mix! Highland Justice gives taste of what makes Capercaillie and Carter Burwell special as a musician. The Blunt Reels without a doubt is the standout song of Rob Roy. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. Honor Inflamed is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song. Overall a nice softer song. Vocals of Capercaillie and Carter Burwell in The Last Peaceful Night really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm. Ailein Duinn is a bit different from Capercaillie and Carter Burwell stereotypical stuff. When I listen to The Gaelic Reels in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. Blood Sport one of the best in my collection. What sets Procession For The Ill-Used apart is Capercaillie and Carter Burwell’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. A unique and uplifting song. This is probably my favorite song on the album. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor.
