On Escalona, Vol. 2 album, Carlos Vives have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Since Carlos Vives last CD (Escalona, Vol. 2) on Columbia Records back in 1994, I have felt a massive void in my life. Carlos Vives was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Carlos Vives and Escalona, Vol. 2 together. One of Carlos Vives’s best albums yet.
Carlos Vives has astounded me with this amazing track. This track is nearly perfect if not perfect. Opening track Hambre del Liceo shows the best of Carlos Vives. Maye is a gorgeous sing-along. Pirata de Loperena marked the continuation of Carlos Vives in style evolution. Historia is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. Voice of Carlos Vives in Paraguachon is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. Vieja Sara is, without a doubt, my favorite song, ever. Mala Suerte - A catchy, upbeat tune. Chevrolito is a marvelous, simple song by Carlos Vives at the top of his game. Despedida is a song to enjoy for years to come. Brasilera without a doubt is the standout song of Escalona, Vol. 2.
