I am not a real Industrial music type of person, but i have to admit ‘A Thousand Lights…’ really is amazing. ‘A Thousand Lights…’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. On A Thousand Lights… album, Coil have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. This album is in perfect progression from Coil!
Red Skeletons is perfect. Die Wolfe Kommen Zuruck is the albums lead single as well as biggest hit. Refusal Of Leave To Land on A Thousand Lights… is solid and easy to listen to. Stoned Circular I stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. Simple and heartfelt closing track Stoned Circular II closes A Thousand Lights… on a high note. Best song on the album, love it. Cold Dream Of An Earth Star is the more seemingly obscure song on A Thousand Lights… that bear up best to repeated listening. Blue Rats - Check out that bassline! One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Scratches And Dust because the melody in the chorus is so good. Chalice is excellent song though, very addictive.
