Since completing 1996’s ‘Unprepared Piano’, Coil fulfilled their contract with Virgin Records and where under no obligation to release another album. It has been four years Coil’ last studio CD, “Black Light District - A Thousand Lights in a Darkened Room” which won Array Emmy� Awards and was nominated for album of the year. There is no doubt that Coil has talent. IT makes me wanna dance!
Music of Red Skeletons is gentle, never overbearing. Die Wolfe Kommen Zuruck - Coil first major hit. Refusal of Leave to Land is pretty funky and mellow. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Stoned Circular I is my favorite song on Black Light District - A Thousand Lights in a Darkened Room. I like the idea behind Stoned Circular II. This track is full of harmonies and gets Black Light District - A Thousand Lights in a Darkened Room off to a relaxing start. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create. Blue Rats rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. Scratches and Dust is really the reason why I recommend buying Black Light District - A Thousand Lights in a Darkened Room. Chalice is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Coil ever produced.
