Dalida was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Dalida and Les annees Barclay - Vol.2 - Come prima together. Dalida’s debut, ‘Les annees Barclay - Vol.2 - Come prima’, does not fit easily into one genre. Since Dalida last CD (Les annees Barclay - Vol.2 - Come prima) on Virgin Records back in 1996, I have felt a massive void in my life. I wish that “Les annees Barclay - Vol.2 - Come prima” album was instrumental.
Pour Garder is the albums biggest surprise. When I listen to Tesoro Mio in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Les annees Barclay - Vol.2 - Come prima is Calypso Italiano. In Histoire d’Un Amour [Historia de un Amor] it becomes nowhere more obvious that Dalida has yet to define own style. Gondolier (With All My Heart) is almost impossible to review. |titile| is a sure sign of something most of us are experiencing, maturity. A unique and uplifting song. Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with Pardon (El Reloj). I like Dieu Seul (Love Me Forever) because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. Yeux de Mon Amour (Cabo Frio) is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. Dans le Bleu du Ciel Bleu (Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu - Volare) is the first taste of the new album. Montagne is the amazing blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. Je Pars (Alone) is the album’s biggest hit, I think. Such hits like Timide Snade (Timida Serenata) will leave you hooked. Inconnu Mon Amour [Rapt au 2E Bureau] - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody. Lyrics of Amour Chante [Du Film: Rapt au 2EME Bureau] are precise and evocative. It’s so catchy, it’s amazing. Gitans is simply cool. Marchand de Fruits [Festival du Coq de la Chanson Franse 1958] is such a cool and optimistic song that things can get just better. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Rendez-Vous au Lavandou (Festival du Coq de la Chanson Franse 1958) because the melody in the chorus is so good. AMon Coeur (Portuguesa) (2:25) Not one of my favorites, but for a lot of people this is one of their best songs. Adieu Monsieur Mon Amour gives good insight into the truths. Maintenant can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what Dalida is all about. Within the first few notes of Hna it’s perfectly clear that Dalida is living this song. In Come Prima (Tu Me Donnes) [From un Air de Famille] - Dalida, Raymond LeFevre the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation.
