Self-described as Ethnic with lots of words, Dead Can Dance comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. This thirteen-song debut EP shows the promise that Dead Can Dance has. Lead single “The Arrival And The Reunion” and “Saltarello” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Smart music for smart people.
In Saltarello full palet of sound is used by Dead Can Dance to accentuate the presentation. In Mephisto Dead Can Dance is at his best. The Song Of The Sibyl presents the marvelous mix of instruments on Aion. Fortune Presents Gifts Not According To The Book is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. As The Bell Rings The Maypole Spins is simply marvelous. The End Of Words - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem. When listening to Black Sun, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. Wilderness actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Dead Can Dance’s face. I now have The Promised Womb as one of my personal favorites. This track is just a stunning masterpiece. Vocals of Dead Can Dance in Radharc really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm.
