After debuting at No. 1 last week, Dizzy Gillespie’s album Jazz Masters 10 falls to No. 2 with 271,000, a sales slide of 97%. Since Dizzy Gillespie last CD (Jazz Masters 10) on SixSteps records back in 1993, I have felt a massive void in my life. ‘Jazz Masters 10′ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. Jazz Masters 10 is not something you should pass up.
November Afternoon has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. Music of A Night In Tunisia is gentle, never overbearing. After few listenings I started to like Tour De Force more and more. This song may be the most meaningful. Dizzy Gillespie must have run out of lyrics on the next track Con Alma. I Can’t Get Started - ’round Midnight -Medley is probably the most interesting track on Jazz Masters 10. Africana I just LOVE this mix! This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Desafinado is a good listen every once in a while. Leap Frog - Take 5 - I like this one. Swing Low, Sweet Cadillac which is my favorite is a truly Dizzy Gillespie sounding song.
