There is so much to love about Ella Fitzgerald, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. Lead single “Let’s Do It (Let’s Fall in Love)” and “Caravan” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. This is one of the best Cd’s Ella Fitzgerald has dropped to date. Exciting stuff.
The beautiful sound of this track makes you want to close your eyes and sway away with the music. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. The sound in Ev’rything I’ve Got is really warm and Ella Fitzgerald’s signature voice is still very much present. Vocals of Ella Fitzgerald in In a Mellow Tone really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm. One for My Baby (And One More for the Road) is the best music that I have heard from anyone in any area of music. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. This track is a great song that still never gets old. Them There Eyes sets the tone for the entire album. Knock Me a Kiss is a excellent song and it grows on you. Jersey Bounce is a medium tempo tune. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Black Coffee, which shows, blatantly, how much Ella Fitzgerald has evolved as a singer. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Jazz Masters 46. Lyrics of Passion Flower are precise and evocative. The Music Goes ‘Round and Around is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day.
