I am not a real Classical music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Konigskinder (1. Akt)’ really is amazing. ‘Konigskinder (1. Akt)’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. Konigskinder (1. Akt) isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. Enjoy the show.
I. He! Trulle! Wo mag sie nur stecken? [Hexe, Gansemagd] - a classic song. I. Ach, bin ich allein! [Gansemagd] can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what Engelbert Humperdinck is all about. I. Ich biete dir gute Zeit! [Konigssohn, Gansemagd] has a fun tempo. I. Was ist ein Konig? [Gansemagd, Konigssohn] is a medium tempo tune. I. Willst du mein Maienbuhle sein [Konigssohn, Gansemagd] is nothing but pure genius. I. Der Wind! Hat den Kranz mir abgeweht! [Gansemagd, Konigssohn, Hexe] marked the continuation of Engelbert Humperdinck in style evolution. Within the first few notes of I. Horst du nicht? [Hexe, Gansemagd] it’s perfectly clear that Engelbert Humperdinck is living this song. I. Drei Narren zogen aus [Spielmann, Hexe, Holzhacker, Besenbinder] is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. I. Sintemalen in Hellabrunn [Holzhacker, Spielmann, Besenbinder, Hexe] actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Engelbert Humperdinck’s face. Strong, powerful vocals of Engelbert Humperdinck in I. Was packst du dich nicht mit deinen Gesellen? [Hexe, Spielmann, Gansemagd] are very impressive. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. II. Einleitung zum zweiten Akt (Hellafest und Kinderreigen) is one of the more up-tempo songs on Konigskinder (1. Akt). II. Jungfer, das ist ein Leben in der Stadt! [Stallmagd, Wirtstochter, Konigssohn] is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. This track makes my mind whirl and vibrate with flowing energy. II. Ei, ist das schwer, ein Bettler sein! [Konigssohn] one of the best in my collection. II. Torwachter, macht uns auf! [Bursche, Torwachter, Madchen, Wirt, Stallmagd, Konigssohn, Kinder] - For me, this is the best of the album. II. Vivat der Holzhacker! [Volk, Wirt, Stallmagd, Kinder, Besenbinder, Holzhacker] is simply amazing. This song stands out greatly from the others. Voice of Engelbert Humperdinck in II. Die Ratsherren kommen! [Volk, Ratsaltester, Konigssohn, Holzhacker, Schneider, Besenbinder, Kinder, Wirt, Wirtstochter] is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. Music of III. Einleitung zum dritten Akt (Verdorben - gestorben- Spielmanns letzter Gesang) is gentle, never overbearing. III. Meine grauen Taublein! Seid ihr in der Nahe? [Spielmann] have really caught my ear and imagination. Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with III. Hier, Besenbinder, hier ist die Wende [Holzhacker, Spielmann, Besenbinder, Tochterchen des Besenbinders, Kinder]. III. Nicht storen! Geht fort! [Tochterchen des Besenbinders, Kinder, Spielmann, Holzhacker, Besenbinder] stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. III. Wohin bist du gegangen [Spielmann] is a very catchy tune. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. This track is full of harmonies and gets Konigskinder (1. Akt) off to a relaxing start. III. Einst hatte ich Gold… [Konigssohn, Gansemagd, Holzhacker, Besenbinder] is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song. III. Hast schon wieder ein wenig Rot … [Konigssohn, Gansemagd] presents the amazing mix of instruments on Konigskinder (1. Akt). III. Tapfer, ihr Kinder, voran! [Spielmann, Holzhacker, Besenbinder, Tochterchen des Besenbinders] is the marvelous blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. III. Verdorben! Gestorben! [Spielmann] - This one is lively and fun. I believe II. Die Gloken! Mittag is one of the most amazing, heartfelt songs ever written.
