Ennio Morricone was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Ennio Morricone and A Pure Formality together. On A Pure Formality album, Ennio Morricone have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Now signed to Ennio Morricone’s Sparrow Records, the title track from second album “A Pure Formality” leads Ennio Morricone’s back-to-school campaign. IT makes me wanna dance!
In Remembering it becomes nowhere more obvious that Ennio Morricone has yet to define own style. The Palace Of Nine Frontiers is perfect work of Ennio Morricone. The Bum is the most memorable and cool. This is probably my favorite song on the album. Song Waiting For The Police Inspector is actually a funny song. Strong, powerful vocals of Ennio Morricone in In Search Of Onoff are very impressive. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think An Odd Diary is my favorite song on A Pure Formality. Overall a nice softer song. Mosaic is a bit different from Ennio Morricone stereotypical stuff. Leonardo Da Vinci motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. Contradictions is probably one of Ennio Morricone’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. The Trap And The Mouse - Okay, I just talked about depth. Ennio Morricone allows each song to breathe and flourish. It took me a little time but I ended up loving Bloodstains. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. A Mere Memory Lapse is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Ennio Morricone ever produced. Repressed Memories is another favourite of mine. First time I heard Revelation was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing. This song stands out greatly from the others. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is To Obliterate The Past because the melody in the chorus is so good.
