Lead single “D’annunzio, Tosti / ‘A vucchela” and “Genoino, Cottrau / Fenesta ca lucive” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Enrico Caruso’s debut, ‘La grande canzone napoletana’, does not fit easily into one genre. After debuting at No. 1 last week, Enrico Caruso’s album La grande canzone napoletana falls to No. 2 with 416,000, a sales slide of 67%. This album is in perfect progression from Enrico Caruso!
Enrico Caruso sings Genoino, Cottrau / Fenesta ca lucive in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. Capurro, Di Capua / ‘O sole mio is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. I came to like Gioie, Esposito / I’ m’arricordo ‘e Napule. As always, Enrico Caruso’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. I like the idea behind Bovio, De Curtis / Canta pe’ mme. A unique and uplifting song. Russo, Valente / Mannella mia - A strong beat. Murolo, Mazzocco / Uocchie celeste was the first single release from the album La grande canzone napoletana. I like to sing along with Fucito / Sultanto a ‘te, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. I now have Ciociano / Cielo turchino as one of my personal favorites. This song is dynamic and dramatic.
