This -song debut EP shows the promise that Ethnic - Various Artists has. On Vol. 1 - Ethnic Music Classics, 1925-48 album, Ethnic - Various Artists have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. This disc has all of the essential Ethnic - Various Artists classics. This album is in perfect progression from Ethnic - Various Artists!
The song Sardinia / Effisio Melis ending is my favorite… so catchy! Russia / Savelli Walevitch - Well, here we get a bit more meaning. This track is a fabulous selection of easy listening, suitable for any age, taste or occasion. Within the first few notes of Rajahstan / Bhoora Singh and Party it’s perfectly clear that Ethnic - Various Artists is living this song. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Ethnic - Various Artists. I loved Rumania / Anon. Group the first time I heard it. I like Viet Nam / Hoang-Vuy because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. Still going through Vol. 1 - Ethnic Music Classics, 1925-48 and coming to appreciate Macedonia / Stephanya G. Penchevya more and more with every listen. Society Islands / Les Tamaru very upbeat. Morocco / Raoul Journo is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. South Africa / Zwabesho Sibisi has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album. Japan / Imperial Household Orchestra is really the reason why I recommend buying Vol. 1 - Ethnic Music Classics, 1925-48. In India / Master Manahar Barve it becomes nowhere more obvious that Ethnic - Various Artists has yet to define own style. This song may be the most meaningful. This track is almost perfect, instrumentals and vocals combine awesomely. Yiddish / Raderman-Bekerman Orchestra is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. Overall a nice softer song. It’s very catchy and easy to get into which is what you want in a song. Abyssinia (Ethiopia) / Haile, Ighigou, et al. is really a nice song to relax and listen too. Andalucia (Spain) / La Nica De Los Peines - A nice song. You can find feelings on this piece of art. I can’t stop humming along Fiji / Andi Thakambau.
