This disc has all of the essential Fats Waller classics. After seeing Ain’t Misbehavin’, I had to have a good Fats Waller cd. This album has some very good songs like Ain’t Misbehavin’ and Handful Of Keys. This is my first Fats Waller Album and i must say i am blown away.
Some call Handful Of Keys from Greatest Hits as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. I’m Crazy ‘Bout My Baby is probably the highlight of the album. Get Greatest Hits and turn on Honeysuckle Rose if you are going to sip your wine late at night. Keepin’ Out Of Mischief Now - another great track from the Greatest Hits album. Tea For Two is probably the most interesting track on Greatest Hits. What sets The Joint Is Jumpin’ apart is Fats Waller’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. I Ain’t Got Nobody is one of these floating songs. Smashing Thirds is outstanding work of Fats Waller. Your Feet’s Too Big - To me, this is the best song on the Greatest Hits. Ring Dem Bells is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Carolina Shout is my favorite song on Greatest Hits. Fats Waller breathes new life into the music in S’posin’. Opening track Lulu’s Back In Town shows the best of Fats Waller.
