Folk - Various Artists’s debut, ‘Heritage of Ireland’, does not fit easily into one genre. While no new Folk - Various Artists album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1995 tour in South America. Thom Yorke has compared writing for Folk - Various Artists’s new album to that on ‘Heritage of Ireland’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. This album is a scorcher!
Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in Heritage of Ireland. The Royal Irish Rangers and Ann-Marie O’Farrell / Sleivenamon - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. Waxies Dargle / Finnegan’s Wake is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. The Blarney Lads / Black Velvet Band is one of these floating songs. Waxies Dargle / The Fields of Athenry is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through Heritage of Ireland. Waxies Dargle / The Sally Gardens is a fine track on any terms. Waxies Dargle with Geraghty & John / Dirty Old Town is one of the best records ever. Simple and heartfelt closing track The Blarney Lads / Muirsheen Durkin closes Heritage of Ireland on a high note. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Heritage of Ireland. Waxies Dargle / O’Carolan’s Concerto I just LOVE this mix! Folk - Various Artists has astounded me with this amazing track. |titile| is quite refreshing and sets the tone for what is going on in Heritage of Ireland. Waxies Dargle / Whiskey in the Jar is the most memorable and amazing.
