one years ago, Folk - Various Artists briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Castle Of Dromore (Kate Power)”. This is one of the best Cd’s Folk - Various Artists has dropped to date. Now signed to Folk - Various Artists’s Columbia Records, the title track from second album “V.A. - (1996) Celtic Twilight 3, Lullabies” leads Folk - Various Artists’s back-to-school campaign. V.A. - (1996) Celtic Twilight 3, Lullabies is preety good and all the songs have a good meaning behind them.
All of songs on V.A. - (1996) Celtic Twilight 3, Lullabies and have something to say letting alone Castle Of Dromore (Kate Power). Connamara Cradle Song (Maireid Sullivan) - Check out that bassline! In Nightingale’s Lullaby (Julie Last) Folk - Various Artists spins a tale you want to hear to the end. Asleep In My Arms (Barbara Higbie) is a bit of a show-tune. Theid Mi Dhachaigh (The MacKenzie Lullaby; Talitha MacKenzie) is marvelous song though, very addictive. Christina (Alasdair Fraser) is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after V.A. - (1996) Celtic Twilight 3, Lullabies have ended. Folk - Various Artists must have run out of lyrics on the next track Lagan Love (William Coulter). This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Best song on the album, love it. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Irish Lullaby (Bill Douglas), which shows, blatantly, how much Folk - Various Artists has evolved as a singer. Lullabye (Arcady) is a exquisite, simple song by Folk - Various Artists at the top of his game. Gartan Mother’s Lullaby (Linda Arnold) is the first taste of the new album. All Through The Night (Brian Dunning) is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses.
