Self-described as Blues with lots of words, Freddie King comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. Freddie King was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Freddie King and King Of The Blues together. There is no doubt that Freddie King has talent. This album is a scorcher!
I like Dust My Broom because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. Such hits like Worried Life Blues will leave you hooked. Five Long Years is simple, dignified and effective, Freddie King refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. In Key To The Highway Freddie King spins a tale you want to hear to the end. Going Down is outstanding work of Freddie King. Living On The Highway is absolutely incredible. Walking By Myself which is my favorite is a truly Freddie King sounding song. Tore Down is one of the coolest songs Freddie King has ever recorded. Palace Of The King motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. It’s so catchy, it’s amazing. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on King Of The Blues is Big Legged Woman. Me and My Guitar marked the continuation of Freddie King in style evolution. This track is a fabulous selection of easy listening, suitable for any age, taste or occasion. This is one hell of a track. You Was Wrong as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. How Many More Years (3:26) a good melody. No Freddie King song has come close to capturing my attention as Ain T No Sunshine did. The Sky Is Crying - A catchy, upbeat tune. That S All Right is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Freddie King ever produced. I like to sing along with Woman Across The River, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with Hoochie Coochie Man. A fantastic track full of wonder. In Boogie Man the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. Excellent vocals and musical performances. Just A Little Bit - A classic Freddie King track. In Yonders Wall you won’t find any flashy solos. Help Me Through The Day is one of the more up-tempo songs on King Of The Blues. One listen to the sheer beauty of I M Ready was all I needed. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. You Don T Have To Go - My least favorite song on this album. Please Send Me Someone To Love is one of the best records ever. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. It’s such an underrated song. Boogie Fuck is one of those songs that will put you in a good mood. It Hurts Me Too has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. Something You Got is probably one of Freddie King’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. Ain T No Big Deal On You (3:32) - Oh, this is one of my favorites! I Just Want To Make Love To You is one of my favorite songs by Freddie King. Freddie King is one of artists that allow his songs like Hide Away to stand on their own and be heard.
