Gavin Bryars was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Gavin Bryars and Cadman Requiem together. Self-described as Classical with lots of words, Gavin Bryars comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. John Digester has compared writing for Gavin Bryars’s new album to that on ‘Cadman Requiem’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Gavin Bryars “Cadman Requiem” is an amazing album.
Cadman Requiem - Caedmon Paraphrase (Bede) stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. Get Cadman Requiem and turn on Cadman Requiem - Agnus Dei if you are going to sip your wine late at night. Cadman Requiem - Caedmon’s “Creation Hymn” is one of the more up-tempo songs on Cadman Requiem. Cadman Requiem - In Paradisum is Gavin Bryars’s best work in years. Adnan Songbook - Song I - A strong beat. A unique and uplifting song. Adnan Songbook - Song III is the albums biggest surprise. Adnan Songbook - Song IV is new, fresh, and hypnotizing. Adnan Songbook - Song V - A catchy, upbeat tune. Adnan Songbook - Song VI as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. Adnan Songbook - Song VII - Gavin Bryars first major hit. Adnan Songbook - Song VIII is nothing but pure genius. Wonderlawn is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about.
