seven years ago, Gloria Trevi briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Si Me Llevas Contigo…”. This is the first studio album from Gloria Trevi since bad diagnosis in 1996. Lead single “Dr. Psiquiatra-Remix (Version Para Radio)” and “Si Me Llevas Contigo…” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Enjoy the show.
From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. One listen to the sheer beauty of Ella Que Nunca Fue was all I needed. Gloria Trevi must have run out of lyrics on the next track Hoy Me Ire De Casa. Que Voy A Hacer Sin El? is a strong cut, one of many. La Acera De Enfrente is so unique, as each one of the songs is. The first time I listened to Agarrate I was struck by its cool sound. Some of the arrangements found on De Pelos: Lo Mejor De Gloria Trevi are surprisingly edgy. This song stands out greatly from the others. El Recuento De Los Danos - Okay, I just talked about depth. La Papa Sin Catsup is a song to enjoy for years to come. A Gatas is simply perfect. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. Album opener Dr. Psiquiatra-Remix (Version Larga) is a bright, upbeat ditty.
