Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Grover Washington Jr. on ‘I Can Count The Times’. Bun B. Hear has compared writing for Grover Washington Jr.’s new album to that on ‘Soulful Strut’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Soulful Strut isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. If I may, I suggest “I Can Count The Times”. That one song is amazing!
Bordertown is another strong production from Grover Washington Jr.. Play That Groove For Me is the albums biggest surprise. This track is a great song that still never gets old. Soulful Strut to me is the best you can get from Grover Washington Jr.. Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with Village Groove. First time I heard Headman’s Haunt was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing.I love the melodic melody of Poacher Man and to this day it makes me feel good. Mystical Force - A strong beat. Uptown marked the continuation of Grover Washington Jr. in style evolution.
