Now signed to Henry Mancini’s SixSteps records, the title track from second album “The Blues And The Beat” leads Henry Mancini’s back-to-school campaign. ‘The Blues And The Beat’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. While no new Henry Mancini album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1995 tour in Europe. The Blues And The Beat touched my soul like nothing else.
Smoke Rings (3:20) - Oh, this is one of my favorites! Misty I just LOVE this mix! Blues Flame - This one is lively and fun. Although After Hours is very melodic it is far from sad. Musically Mood Indigo is superior to other tracks in The Blues And The Beat. The Beat is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after The Blues And The Beat have ended. Big Noise From Winnetka makes a person feel exquisite. Alright, Okay, You Win is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Henry Mancini released so far. Tippin’ Inn is a striking and quite long song. In How Could You Do A Thing Like That To Me you won’t find any flashy solos. This song may be the most meaningful. The House Of The Rising Sun - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody. Some call C Jam Blues from The Blues And The Beat as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. Opening track Green Onions shows the best of Henry Mancini. This is probably my favorite song on the album.
