Baia is amazing work of Herbie Mann. Evolution Of Mann - I just love it. Oodles Of Noodles actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Herbie Mann’s face. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is The Peanut Vendor because the melody in the chorus is so good. Star Dust gives good insight into the truths. This song is very powerful, its catchy melody will have you singing along in no time. Todos Locos which is my favorite is a truly Herbie Mann sounding song. Cuban Patato Chip (’Cuban Potato Chip’) is a striking and quite long song. The sound of Come On, Mule is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. Still going through Verve Jazz Masters 56 and coming to appreciate The Amazon River more and more with every listen. In Caravan the music gets its power. Excellent vocals and musical performances. You Stepped Out Of A Dream is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. Fife ‘N’ Tambourine Corps is a great opener for Verve Jazz Masters 56.
