It’s natural for Holly Cole Trio to take a stab at ‘Don’t Smoke In Bed’ considering her long-professed love for Orkrist. Don’t Smoke in Bed is an amazing album, racked with beauty.Holly Cole Trio was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Holly Cole Trio and Don’t Smoke in Bed together. This is my first Holly Cole Trio Album and i must say i am blown away.
It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be), which shows, blatantly, how much Holly Cole Trio has evolved as a singer. This track is full of harmonies and gets Don’t Smoke in Bed off to a relaxing start. I like the agression and power of Cry (If You Want To). The song feels complete. Ev’rything I’ve Got (Belongs To You) is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. Everyday Will Be Like A Holiday - Check out that bassline! So And So has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Holly Cole Trio’s strong vocals come to the fore. The Tennessee Waltz - To me, this is the best song on the Don’t Smoke in Bed. Get Out Of Town sets the tone for the entire album. I now have Don’t Let The Teardrops Rust Your Shining Heart as one of my personal favorites. I came to like I Can See Clearly Now.
