When you buy a Horslips album, you know exactly what you’re getting! Horslips Story isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. Self-described as Folk with lots of words, Horslips comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. To me Horslips is the best band ever.
Some of the arrangements found on Horslips Story are surprisingly edgy. Flower Among Them All - This one is lively and fun. After about the third Dearg Doom listen through, I began to believe this song is Horslips’s essence. Faster Than The Hounds can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what Horslips is all about. One of the more genuine-sounding songs is Best Year Of My Life. Man Who Built America is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create. Voice of Horslips in Daybreak is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. Opening track Everything Will Be Alright shows the best of Horslips. Power And The Glory - A nice song. Once you hear Sword Of Light, you will listen to it over and over. Warm Sweet Breath Of Love is the more seemingly obscure song on Horslips Story that bear up best to repeated listening. Speed The Plough is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Horslips Story have ended. Trouble With A Capital T is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through Horslips Story. Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin. Still going through Horslips Story and coming to appreciate King Of The Fairies more and more with every listen. When listening to High Volume Love, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. An Bratach Ban was the first single release from the album Horslips Story. Silver Spear (2:01) - awsome.
