When you buy a Hwang Byung-Ki album, you know exactly what you’re getting! This is one of the best Cd’s Hwang Byung-Ki has dropped to date. Lead single “Sounds of the Night: Mysteriously” and “Sounds of the Night: Joyfully” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. It is very deep stuff - very exciting
In Sounds of the Night: Joyfully it becomes nowhere more obvious that Hwang Byung-Ki has yet to define own style. Hwang Byung-Ki is hitting on all cylinders in Sounds of the Night: Tempestuously. Sounds of the Night: Plaintively is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Harim Castle: Adagio because the melody in the chorus is so good. Harim Castle: Allegretto is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. What sets Namdo Fantasy: Introduction apart is Hwang Byung-Ki’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly. Namdo Fantasy: Allegretto - 4 Allegro - another great track from the Kayagum Masterpieces Vol 4 album. Soyop-sanbang: Adagio - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. Soyop-sanbang: Moderato - Hwang Byung-Ki first major hit. Voice and instruments in Soyop-sanbang: Allegretto complement each other. It’s very catchy and easy to get into which is what you want in a song. Spring Snow: Calm Morning is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. Spring Snow: Peacefully is probably the highlight of the album. Best song on the album, love it. Vocals of Hwang Byung-Ki in Spring Snow: Humorously really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm. Music in Spring Snow: Excitedly is gorgeous as in all tracks of Kayagum Masterpieces Vol 4.
