John Peel Sub-Pop Sessions carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. This is the first studio album from Indie - Various Artists since bad diagnosis in 1994. For older fans John Peel Sub-Pop Sessions will put a massive smile accross your face. Such great and happy songs.
By Her Own Hand (Mudhoney) catches attention immediately, Music and lyrics of Here Comes Sickness (Mudhoney) creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. This is probably my favorite song on the album. I loved Helot (Tad) the first time I heard it. The opening track Sit In Glass (Seaweed) is very much like you would expect from other albums. The song She Cracked (Seaweed) ending is my favorite… so catchy! Although You Pretty Thing (Pond) is very melodic it is far from sad. Strong, powerful vocals of Indie - Various Artists in Cinders (Pond) are very impressive. Here Comes (Velocity Girl) is a bit of a show-tune. In Always (Velocity Girl) full palet of sound is used by Indie - Various Artists to accentuate the presentation. I think Crazy Town (Velocity Girl) is the best song Indie - Various Artists has ever done. Broken Hearted Mine (Codeine) one is one of the better boring ones.
