Inkuyo was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Inkuyo and Ancient Sun together. There is so much to love about Inkuyo, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. This is the first studio album from Inkuyo since bad diagnosis in 1996. I wish that “Ancient Sun” album was instrumental.
Some of the arrangements found on Ancient Sun are surprisingly edgy. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Rumbo Al Socavon is my favorite song on Ancient Sun. I listened to the opening track Urpilita and liked it a lot. Sol Milenario good vocals. Cacharpaya stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Inkuyo. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Ancient Sun is Llanuras. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. |titile| is quite refreshing and sets the tone for what is going on in Ancient Sun. Anoranzas (4:39) Not one of my favorites, but for a lot of people this is one of their best songs. In Peregrino you won’t find any flashy solos. Camba Cusa - Check out that bassline! Corazon Herido is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Inkuyo ever produced. Within the first few notes of Danza de la Lluvia it’s perfectly clear that Inkuyo is living this song.
