Since completing 1995’s ‘Saba (Prelude)’, Jalal Zolfonun fulfilled their contract with ForeFront Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Bun B. Hear has compared writing for Jalal Zolfonun’s new album to that on ‘Kord Bayat’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. This is the first studio album from Jalal Zolfonun since bad diagnosis in 1995. One of Jalal Zolfonun’s best albums yet.
Saba (Main Section) is pretty funky and mellow. This track makes my mind whirl and vibrate with flowing energy. You have to get essence of the Kord Bayat’s power, to truly understand this masterpiece. Dobayti (Prelude) is probably one of Jalal Zolfonun’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. Dobayti (Main Section) is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. Shur is the album’s biggest hit, I think. Voice and instruments in Layli (First Section) complement each other. This is probably my favorite song on the album. Voice of Jalal Zolfonun in Shahrashub is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. Hud Hud is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Jalal Zolfonun released so far. Oshshaq - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody.
