This disc has all of the essential James Brown classics. Thom Yorke has compared writing for James Brown’s new album to that on ‘Get on the Good Foot’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. After seeing Ain’t It A Groove, I had to have a good James Brown cd. Get on the Good Foot is the best essence of James Brown.
Cold Sweat as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. Dirty Harri - I just love it. Funky Side Of Town is a fine track on any terms. Get On The Good Foot (Parts 1 & 2) has a fun tempo. I Got A Bag Of My Own - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of James Brown. I Know It’s True has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. When listening to My Part/ Make It Funky (Parts 3 & 4), it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. I like Nothing Beats A Try But A Fail because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. This song stands out greatly from the others. Recitation By Hank Ballard is so unique, as each one of the songs is. This song is very powerful, its catchy melody will have you singing along in no time. I believe Your Love Was Good For Me is one of the most cool, heartfelt songs ever written.
