There is no doubt that James Last and His Orchestra has talent. On the Germany charts, superstar James Last and His Orchestra’s career stalled before it left the starting gate. Lead single “The River Of Dreams” and “Sweat (A La La La La Long)” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. This album is in perfect progression from James Last and His Orchestra!
Sweat (A La La La La Long) has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. Life’s A Celebration is a very catchy tune. When I listen to Father Figure in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. (You Put The) Sun In My Heart hits the heart. Fields Of Gold has a fun tempo. I find myself hearing bits of Right Beside You here and there throughout my waking hours. James Last and His Orchestra allows each song to breathe and flourish. After about the third His Light Will Shine listen through, I began to believe this song is James Last and His Orchestra’s essence. La Isla Bonita is probably the highlight of the album. This track makes my mind whirl and vibrate with flowing energy. Album opener I’ll Stand By You is a bright, upbeat ditty. Lyrics of Freedom are precise and evocative. Sunshine Reggae - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody.
