After debuting at No. 1 last week, Jane Birkin’s album Jane B., Vol. 1 falls to No. 2 with 889,000, a sales slide of 67%. Self-described as Latin with lots of words, Jane Birkin comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. Jane B., Vol. 1 carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. Another great offering from Jane Birkin.
Jane Birkin is one of artists that allow his songs like Nicotine to stand on their own and be heard. This track is clearly meant to showcase Jane Birkin’s vocal abilities. Baby Lou is one of these floating songs. Although Baby Alone in Babylone is very melodic it is far from sad. This track makes my mind whirl and vibrate with flowing energy. Quoi one of the best in my collection. Counteau Dans le Play is the first taste of the new album. Lost Song is amazing and different song. Et Quand Bien M is the albums biggest surprise. Within the first few notes of Jane B. it’s perfectly clear that Jane Birkin is living this song. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in Jane B., Vol. 1. Jane Birkin sings Je T’Aime Moi Non Plus in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. The song Di Doo Dah ending is my favorite… so catchy! Nice and different song. This song may be the most meaningful. Si Peut Te Consoler (3:03) - Oh, this is one of my favorites! Jane Birkin is hitting on all cylinders in Ballade de Johnny-Jane. Yesterday Yes a Day is a bit different from Jane Birkin stereotypical stuff. Ex-Fan des Sixties is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen.
