This disc has all of the essential Jazz - Various Artists classics. I am not a real Jazz music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Gerry Mulligan - Jazz Sax’ really is amazing. Lead single “My Romance (Ben Webster)” and “Lil Rousin (Charlie Rouse)” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. This is my first Jazz - Various Artists Album and i must say i am blown away.
Lil Rousin (Charlie Rouse) - Okay, I just talked about depth. Laura (Dexter Gordon) is the most memorable and marvelous. Capricious (Gerry Mulligan) is the albums lead single as well as biggest hit. Just Enough (Grover Washington, Jr) is almost impossible to review. A Flower is a Lovesome Thing (Harry Carney with Duke Ell) is the best music that I have heard from anyone in any area of music. Jeep’s Blues (Johnny Hodges with Duke Ellington and his) is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. Opening track Body and Soul (Paul Gonsalves with Duke Ellington and hi) shows the best of Jazz - Various Artists. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor.
