This disc has all of the essential Jazz - Various Artists classics. For older fans Johnny Hodges with Duke Ellington and his - Jazz Sax will put a massive smile accross your face. Now signed to Jazz - Various Artists’s Sparrow Records, the title track from second album “Johnny Hodges with Duke Ellington and his - Jazz Sax” leads Jazz - Various Artists’s back-to-school campaign. Oh yes, this album gets Array out of Array
Lil Rousin (Charlie Rouse) - This is a very lively song. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Jazz - Various Artists. I think Capricious (Gerry Mulligan) is the best song Jazz - Various Artists has ever done. Just Enough (Grover Washington, Jr) is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. From the moment you listen to A Flower is a Lovesome Thing (Harry Carney with Duke Ell) you’re hooked. There is amazing mix of music in Jeep’s Blues (Johnny Hodges with Duke Ellington and his). I like to sing along with Body and Soul (Paul Gonsalves with Duke Ellington and hi), though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. |titile| is a sure sign of something most of us are experiencing, maturity.
