I am not a real Jazz music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Paul Gonsalves with Duke Ellington and hi - Jazz Sax’ really is amazing. Now signed to Jazz - Various Artists’s Sparrow Records, the title track from second album “Paul Gonsalves with Duke Ellington and hi - Jazz Sax” leads Jazz - Various Artists’s back-to-school campaign. This disc has all of the essential Jazz - Various Artists classics. Smart music for smart people.
Lil Rousin (Charlie Rouse) is new, fresh, and hypnotizing. Laura (Dexter Gordon) is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Paul Gonsalves with Duke Ellington and hi - Jazz Sax is Capricious (Gerry Mulligan). Just Enough (Grover Washington, Jr) rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. I can’t stop humming along A Flower is a Lovesome Thing (Harry Carney with Duke Ell). This is probably my favorite song on the album. Body and Soul (Paul Gonsalves with Duke Ellington and hi) is absolutely incredible. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it.
