Blessed Are… is an amazing album, racked with beauty.There is so much to love about Joan Baez, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. On Blessed Are… album, Joan Baez have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. This is one of the best cd’s i have heard through the whole thing.
This song is very powerful, its catchy melody will have you singing along in no time. Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin. So much energy, so exciting a sound.Joan Baez must have run out of lyrics on the next track Milanese Waltz/Marie Flore. From the moment you listen to Let It Be you’re hooked. Put Your Hand in the Hand is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. One of the more genuine-sounding songs is Help Me Make It Through the Night. Heaven Help Us All is one of the coolest songs Joan Baez has ever recorded. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. When Time Is Stolen is worth the money. Don’t judge Outside the Nashville City Limits on the first listening. Lincoln Freed Me Today (The Slave) marked the continuation of Joan Baez in style evolution. Once you hear Brand New Tennessee Waltz, you will listen to it over and over. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. Song Three Horses is actually a funny song. Night They Drove Old Dixie Down is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. Salt of the Earth is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. Blessed Are has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album.
