Joan Baez was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Joan Baez and Rare, Live and Classic together. When you buy a Joan Baez album, you know exactly what you’re getting! Rare, Live and Classic isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. I love this album so much, i’ve been crazy about Joan Baez ever.
A great put together song. Blues Improv is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Joan Baez ever produced. Don’t judge Ring Them Bells on the first listening. Here’s To You can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what Joan Baez is all about. This song is very powerful, its catchy melody will have you singing along in no time. In Forever Young it becomes nowhere more obvious that Joan Baez has yet to define own style. Farewell, Angelina is a cool song and it grows on you. Marriott USA is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. Amazing Grace catches attention immediately, The beautiful sound of this track makes you want to close your eyes and sway away with the music. Honest Lullaby has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. Swing Low, Sweet Chariot is astounding and different song. As always, Joan Baez’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. Children And All That Jazz is simply gorgeous. Blowin’ In The Wind is the most memorable and astounding. In Diamonds & Rust the music gets its power. Some of the arrangements found on Rare, Live and Classic are surprisingly edgy. Angel Band is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. After few listenings I started to like Johnny, I Hardly Knew Yeh more and more. Blew our minds when we first heard Love Song To A Stranger. In The Quiet Morning (For Janis Joplin) defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. Hello In There is a medium tempo tune. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. I loved Joe Hill the first time I heard it. I like The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. Mama Tried - A classic Joan Baez track. Sing Me Back Home (4:02) - awsome. In Donna Donna Joan Baez is at his best. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. You have to get essence of the I Am A Poor Wayfaring Stranger’s power, to truly understand this masterpiece. Sweet Sir Galahad is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. The first time I listened to Catch The Wind I was struck by its exquisite sound. Children Of Darkness is really a nice song to relax and listen too. The Swallow Song is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen. Legend Of A Girl Child Linda is possibly the best song Joan Baez has come up. No Joan Baez song has come close to capturing my attention as Pack Up Your Sorrows did. Colours one of the most beautiful songs i’ve ever heard. The River In The Pines gives taste of what makes Joan Baez special as a musician. I can’t stop humming along There But For Fortune. Voice of Joan Baez in Mama, You Been On My Mind is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. We Shall Overcome is perfect. The sound in Go ‘Way From My Window is really warm and Joan Baez’s signature voice is still very much present. With God On Our Side is, without a doubt, my favorite song, ever. Troubled And I Don’t Know Why has a fun tempo. This song stands out greatly from the others. Geordie - I like this one. Wagoner’s Lad marked the continuation of Joan Baez in style evolution. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Last Night I Had The Strangest Dream because the melody in the chorus is so good. This song could easily nestle itself onto the world top playlists. House Of The Rising Sun one is one of the better boring ones. I listened to the opening track John Riley and liked it a lot. Silver Dagger - This is a very lively song. We Are Crossing Jordan River - Check out that bassline! John Hardy is the funkiest number on the album. Auctioneer - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of Joan Baez. Black Is The Color - A strong beat. Careless Love is one of the best records ever. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. Jimmy Brown - a classic song.
