After debuting at No. 1 last week, Joan Baez’s album Ring Them Bells falls to No. 2 with 468,000, a sales slide of 96%. Now signed to Joan Baez’s ForeFront Records, the title track from second album “Ring Them Bells” leads Joan Baez’s back-to-school campaign. It’s natural for Joan Baez to take a stab at ‘Night They Drove Old Dixie Down - Joan Baez’ considering her long-professed love for Godless Cruelty. If you want to hear real Folk, get this record now!
Diamonds & Rust is so unique, as each one of the songs is. Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right - Indigo Girls is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Joan Baez released so far. Pajarillo Barranque Tish Hinojosa still maintains something of a specific flourish. You’re Aging Well - Dar Williams makes a person feel exquisite. Welcome Me - Joan Baez is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. Within the first few notes of Suzanne - Joan Baez it’s perfectly clear that Joan Baez is living this song. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create. Jesse - Janis Ian is Joan Baez’s best work in years. Swallow Song - Mimi Fari - My least favorite song on this album. Don’t Make Promises - Joan Baez is another strong production from Joan Baez. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in Ring Them Bells. And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda - Joan Baez is the funkiest number on the album. Best song on the album, love it. Lily of the West - Joan Baez on Ring Them Bells is solid and easy to listen to.
