This compilation contains all of the biggest hits by John Campbell. Lead single “Going To Dallas” and “Bad Night Blues” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. I am not a real Blues music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Man and His Blues’ really is amazing. Enjoy the show.
John Campbell must have run out of lyrics on the next track Bad Night Blues. I now have Judgement Day as one of my personal favorites. Bluebird gets you up and jumping. Deep River Rag still maintains something of a specific flourish. It took me a little time but I ended up loving Texas Country Boy. Sittin Here Thinking is simple, dignified and effective, John Campbell refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. I like to sing along with Sunnyland Train, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. White Lightnin is one of these floating songs.
