six years ago, John Jenkins and Kenny Burrell briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Motif”. ‘John Jenkins with Kenny Burrell’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. Since completing 1996’s ‘From This Moment On’, John Jenkins and Kenny Burrell fulfilled their contract with ForeFront Records and where under no obligation to release another album. If you want to hear real Jazz, get this record now!
After about the third Motif listen through, I began to believe this song is John Jenkins and Kenny Burrell’s essence. It’s also one of those rare songs that touchingly comfort the listener. Sharon - A nice song. Chalumeau is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. I’ve found myself listening to Blues For Two back to back and back many times. Sharon (Stereo Take) - My least favorite song on this album. A great put together song.
